Project Profile
Project details
Project: Mechanical refurbishment
Location: Sydney
Client: Qantas
Services: Mechanical services, Fire services
Qantas converted Hangar 245 at the Sydney Jet Base from a heavy maintenance hangar to a line maintenance hangar capable of servicing a wide range of aircraft from B747 to A320.
The refurbishment involved replacing, recommissioning and installing new equipment that would efficiently ventilate the hangar while aircraft maintenance was underway.
By installing mass air flow systems to rotate the aircraft engines, the need to consume fuel in order to run the engines during aircraft maintenance was eliminated, thus providing Qantas with a financial benefit by conserving fuel.
The scope of works included:
upgrading mass flow system including new mass flow air compressors
installing connection to Fladung pop up pits
installing new A/C systems to the Tech Library 1, Tech Library 2, and
communications room
