Take a moment and look up at the ceiling vents in your office. On the surface they look clean… the office cleaners must clean them regularly to stop the dust from building up.
But how clean are the ducts, directly behind these vents, that move the air around the building?
“What you can’t see from the outside is the accumulated dust, particulates, bacteria, fungus and mould in the ductwork that can lead to contaminated air and fire hazards,” explains Jason Mittenzwei, Airgene’s Operations Manager. “This build up also affects the air conditioning equipment, affecting its performance and energy efficiency.”
Quite often, it’s not until a system breaks down, there’s odour or a run of illness in the office that the real source of the problem is uncovered.
“Diligent office cleaners could actually be giving you a false sense of security…just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not there,” Jason continues. “You would be amazed what some ducts look like when we take the vents off – you realise it’s no wonder the employees were uncomfortable!”
Airgene ensures that all ductwork, supply, return and outside air, bathroom and laundry exhausts are inspected and remediated according to AZ.NZS 3666, AS1851 and NFPA90A.

We’re excited to announce that our PAAP program has won the TAFE NSW Gili Industry Partnership Award! The Precise Air Aboriginal Pathways (PAAP) program is in it’s 3rd year and is a fantastic collaboration between Precise Air, TAFE NSW and NSW Police, providing educational and employment opportunities in the HVAC industry. It’s help us raise the overall participation rate of First Nations employees in Precise to almost 4%, and represents 19% of our apprentice cohort. Certainly something for us to celebrate in Reconciliation Week! Gili (pronounced ‘kill-ee’) is an Eora word meaning ‘to shine’. The Gili Awards celebrate the achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and TAFE NSW employees, as well as innovative programs that aim to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. Special thanks to the Precise Air team, TAFE NSW’s Sharon Taylor, Emma McDonald and Gary Jarret, and NSW Police Superintendent Scott Tanner APM.
